I like to program in forth which is a very odd programming language. I've asked ChatGPT for sample code from time to time and in each case the code it returned would not work. Since I am very familiar with several different languages, I can tell (usually) what language it is really trying to use. (Python seems to be the most prevalent). I can force it to use forth by iterations of corrections but, that really me doing the work. So I advise everyone to read the disclaimer on the AI that it might not be correct.
Absolutely. Unfortunately, if LLMs don't know, they often pretend they do: they hallucinate. If I am using something like perplexity or Gemini or chatGPT to research something (which I often have to do for a science comic I create), I always check the sources. Something that I imagine is difficult to do with code! If we delegate difficult, technical tasks to AI, without knowing anything about them, we're going to end up in a hot mess.
AI for repetitive tasks, yes! AI to refine AI tasks, brilliant! AI to write chapters, even if you edit them, um...sounds too much like it's doing your creative work.
It collated the comments that I had already written into chapters with similar themes and then adjusted the past tense for consistency. But it still needed a massive edit and re-write. I enjoy writing and wouldn't delegate that to anyone, AI, or human.
I have never found myself thinking I need to use AI for anything, but that day will probably come with a purpose similar to what you describe. Or maybe I'll croak first. I'm still debating which will be the worse day.
Any artist who works digitally in some form is being left with no choice but to use AI. It is being threaded through Apple, Google, Microsoft and Adobe software, without the ability of users to opt out. I want to be mindful of how I use it to amplify my abilities, without stealing from other creative people.

Thank you. Though I love connections, the New York Times is not one of the newspapers I subscribe to.
If you’re the first to click on this, it just might work:

Love the sample and the clever mouse eulogy. 😊

This is a great use case for AI! Doing the busywork so that use humans can get on with the actual thinking work.
Now seeking AI that will fold my laundry and put it away...
I wish it could do my TAXES!!!
And I mean the part I have to do every year, before I hand it over to my lovely accountant.
